As President of Leiber & Stoller Publishing, one of the largest publishers in the world, with copyrights such as "Jailhouse Rock", "Stand By Me", "Fever", "Kansas City", "Do You Believe In Magic", "What A Wonderful World", "I Got You (I Feel Good)", "The Twist", Randy wanted to pass on his knowledge of the music business to songwriters, with his ASCAP-Deems Taylor Award winning book, "Music Publishing: A Songwriter's Guide". Randy teaches publishing though UCLA Extension and serves on the Advisory Board for the magazine Sing Out! In 1994, Randy received a GRAMMY nomination for his Rhino Records 4-CD boxed set, Songs of the West.
